NPCC Theater department announces auditions for spring musical

The North Platte Community College Theater Department and North Platte Community Playhouse will host auditions for “Next to Normal” next month.
“Next to Normal” is a deeply moving 2008 rock musical that explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. The show takes the audience into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family's story with love, sympathy and heart.
Auditions will be:
Monday, August 11th, 6 – 8 p.m. in the Canteen Room, North Platte Community Playhouse
Tuesday, August 12th, 6 – 8 p.m. in room 115, North Platte Community College South
Campus
The production dates are April 10-12 and 17-19 with showtimes of 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
Early auditions and rehearsals are due to the musical demands of the show. From August to January 2026, there will be two monthly weekend music rehearsals. Weekly rehearsals begin on Monday, February 18, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Those auditioning must be prepared to sing the accompanying songs from the show.
Diana (a woman aged 30-40) – “I Miss the Mountains”
Dan (a man aged 30-40) – “I am the One”
Gabe (a young man around 18 years) – “I’m Alive”
Natalie (a young woman around 16 years) – “Superboy and the Invisible Girl”
Doctor Madden (the young side of ageless) – “Make up Your Mind”
Henry (a young man around 16 years) – “Perfect for You”
