Lori Warren of Spokane, Wash., has been selected as Mid-Plains Community College’s Business Student of the Month for March.

She chose MPCC after discovering that she could earn her degree completely online. “When I found out that MPCC had fully online degree options, I was excited about the opportunity,” Warren said.

Business instructor Jimi Cole nominated Warren for the Student of the Month recognition.

“What sets Lori apart is her disciplined approach to her studies. Her organizational skills and perseverance make her a model for what can be achieved through online learning. It is a privilege to recognize her hard work as she transitions to her future career in healthcare,” Cole said.

Warren's advice to incoming business students is to create an organized system around tracking their to-do list.

“It makes things so much easier when you have a clear idea of where you stand with your assignments for the week. I use a big whiteboard; it really simplifies things for me,” Warren said.

Warren shared that her inspiration for obtaining a degree was so that she could find a good career. “I didn’t go to college when I was younger, and not having a degree has held me back in some ways. Having a business degree will give me a range of skills that can be used in many different work settings,” she said.

Warren is studying business/medical administration and is on track to graduate in spring 2026 with an associate degree. She hopes to find an administrative role in the field of healthcare and plans to pursue certification as a medical coder.
