Rodeo teams claim top spot at Cyclone Stampede Rodeo

Ames, Iowa – The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo team opened the spring season by claiming the men’s and women’s team titles at the Cyclone Stampede Rodeo last weekend.
Kahiwa Augustiro claimed the men’s all-around title after second place finishes in bull riding and bareback. Teammate Jackson Lunn continued his dominance in the bareback event with a first-place finish, while Trace Scarlavai claimed the gold buckle in the bull riding event.
On the women’s side, Whitney Jennings secured the top spot in breakaway with a time of 5.7, while teammate Laysha Cottrell took home the bronze buckle in a time of 6.7. Maggie Underhill continued her run with a third-place finish in barrel racing in a time of 27.91.
The MPCC Rodeo team will continue their spring season at the SDSU Jackrabbit Stampede in Brookings, S.D. April 11-12.
