MCC accepting submissions for alumni art show

McCook Community College is inviting all former art and graphic design students to be part of the college’s 100-year celebration art show later this summer.
Hosted by the McCook College Foundation, this exhibit will feature works by McCook Junior College and MCC students who took art classes from Don Dernovich and Rick Johnson and/or graphic design classes with Becky Meyers and Kelsey Reiman.
Please help spread the word. Submissions through the Foundation are due by July 31 with the exhibit, “MCC Alumni Exhibition: Artistic Journeys,” to run Aug. 10-Sept 19 at the Wrightstone Fine Arts Gallery on campus.
“We are looking forward to seeing artwork from so many talented individuals that got their start at MCC,” said Denise Garey, Director of Administration for the McCook College Foundation.
Interest artists are asked to submit a jpeg image/photo of the artwork or graphic design to Garey at director@mccookcollegefoundation.org or call her for more information at 308-345-5233. A link to the rules is also available on the “100th Celebration Weekend” page on the Mid-Plains Community College website at: https://www.mpcc.edu/mcc_100_years.php
Artists will be limited to one submission smaller than 48-inches by 48 inches. As part of the submission process, artists are asked to submit a photo of the work to be considered for the exhibit as well as a few biographical facts including an artist statement. Artwork must be submitted before July 31 with college staff accepting the artwork at the Wrightstone gallery between Aug. 1 and Aug 7. Following the exhibition all artwork must be picked up by Sunday, Sept. 20 by 4 p.m.
“We think this exhibition will be a tribute to the generations of creative minds and artistic souls who made MJC and MCC a part of their artistic journeys,” said Garey. “We think it will be a perfect fit to help kick off MCC’s 100th anniversary celebration.”
Artists, family and friends are encouraged to visit the campus during the 100th anniversary celebration at MCC Sept 18-19 with tours and special events throughout the weekend. That includes an “Artist Reception” Sept. 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the Wrightstone Gallery.
