The Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at Mid-Plains Community College offer courses and programs for students interested in the world around them. Their interests may guide them toward creation and self-expression and/or investigating society and its many structures and dynamics.
Students of the humanities transform their self-expression into art. They do this through connecting with culture and interpreting creative achievements. Disciplines included in the humanities are:
- Foreign Languages
Students who study the social sciences are interested in learning about the structure and dynamics of social systems. The social sciences will teach students to investigate how individuals and groups influence the world around us. The social sciences are an integral component of a liberal arts education where students expand their understanding of human diversity as it is expressed in human history, ideas, within institutions and human behavior. Disciplines included in the social sciences are:
- Criminal Justice
- Early Childhood Education
- Family and Consumer Science
- Political Science
The humanities and social sciences help prepare students for careers in any field. MPCC humanities and social science students often transfer to four-year institutions to further their education in the career of their choice.
