MPCC Public Information Office wins state/national awards

The Mid-Plains Community College Office of Public Information and Marketing will be recognized in Louisiana for winning multiple categories in a national competition.

Heather Johnson, MPCC area public information specialist, won five awards in the National Federation of Press Women's Professional Communications Contest.

Those include first place finishes in: Public Relations – Videos for Web; Community, Institutional or Internal Relations; Single News or Feature Release and Multiple News or Feature Releases. Johnson also received a third place award in the Public Relations – Media Pitch category.

To qualify for nationals, the awards had to win the state competition first. Johnson was recognized for winning the same categories during the Nebraska Press Women's spring conference April 27 in Broken Bow.

At the state level, she also placed second in the Single News or Feature Release category and in Catalogs, Manuals and Handbooks.

The NFPW awards will be presented during the organization's annual conference in Baton Rouge June 29.
