Honors Convocation to highlight outstanding individuals at NPCC


Lana Albrecht-Watson, nurse educator, hugs one of her students, Megan Fiechtner, during the 2016 Honors Convocation at North Platte Community College. This year's ceremony is scheduled for April 27.  

North Platte Community College will celebrate the successes of its students, faculty and staff next week. The 2017 NPCC Honors Convocation will begin at 3 p.m. April 27 in the McDonald-Belton Theater. 

Numerous scholarships and All College awards will be presented. Those will include: 

  • The Presidential Award 
  • The Vice President of Student Services Award 
  • The Vice President of Instruction Award 
  • The NPCC Professional Achievement in Student Support Award 
  • The NPCC Faculty Achievement in Student Success Award 
  • NPCC Spirit Awards 

Individuals will receive division awards in the areas of: Applied Technologies, Business and Technology, Health Occupations, Humanities and Social Science and Mathematics and Science. 

Additionally, members of the following organizations will be recognized: Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Beta Lambda, Nebraska State Student Nurses' Association, Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Nebraska, Student Ambassadors and the VP Leadership Class. 

The ceremony is free and open to the public. 

Heather Johnson
Area Communications Specialist

Heather produces and distributes press releases for the college. She began work at MPCC in 2014. Prior to that, she spent five years as the news director/web manager for Eagle Radio in North Platte. From 2009-2014 she worked as a reporter/photographer for The North Platte Telegraph. Heather has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Chadron State College.
