North Platte Community College's Student Senate is collecting toys for area children in need this holiday season.

Toys will be accepted through Dec. 2 then will be turned over to the Flat Rock chapter of Guardians of the Children for distribution.

"This is a great opportunity for students and campuses to give back to the community that supports them," said Jason Osmotherly, Student Senate advisor.

Toys for children ages 2-13 will be accepted. It is asked that donations be new, but they don't have to be wrapped.

The toys can be placed in collection boxes set up in the McDonald-Belton fireplace area and at the Student Activities Office on NPCC's South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd. There is also a collection box in the Activities Center on the NPCC North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive.
