Although McCook Community College's Phi Theta Kappa can't stage normal pink-out events this October because of the postponement of volleyball games until the spring, the group is bringing awareness to October being "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" in another way.
On Tuesday the group sold "Pink-Out" shirts and baked goods in von Riesen Library to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Since there will be no "pink-out" volleyball game this October, PTK is encouraging students and staff to wear pink every Monday in October in support of breast cancer awareness. Shirts are being produced and are also available at McCook Lettering's on-line store under MCC Pink_Out:
On the final Monday of the month, Oct. 26, students are asked to come to the Learning Commons in von Riesen Library dressed in their best pink-themed attire for a photo contest, with the winning student winning a $50 cash prize.
