McCook Community College presented its first "You Rock" award of the school year at its all campus meeting Wednesday.
Heather Harvie, long-time administrative assistant for the Vice President of MCC and Student Affairs received the award given out periodically to MCC employees who have gone "above and beyond" the expected service for their position.
"She goes above and beyond every day," said MCC Vice President Kelly Rippen. "She is my rock in the office and a huge help to our college, the student services team and faculty. She pitches in without being asked and her calm and grounded approach is always appreciated."
"Heather is the person so many of us count on to keep the MCC bus moving in the right direction," said Dr. Brian Obert, Area Dean of Student Life, Student Services. "She is always positive, honest, modest, and is a great teammate."
English instructor Jean Miller, pointed out that Heather is willing to serve on any committee when asked.
"I don't know how she does all that is expected of her. When any of us need help with something, she is always willing to stop and help us, even when she is busy with her own tasks to compete," Miller said.
Obert said Heather's gift is her willingness to help make this a better campus every day.
